This July 4th, our country will turn 250 years old. It's a major point in our national history where we acknowledge who we've been, who we are, and who we want to become. But the MAGA regime is set on erasing all the history that doesn't validate their narrow white supremacist agenda (and that's a whole lot of history). 

Trump's 250th is a Whitewashed 250th. He is erasing Black, Brown, and indigenous people from US history, erasing the stories of leaders who made the US a more equal place and replacing them with pictures of himself and wealthy, white men who abused their power like him throughout our past. His administration is taking down exhibits that even mention slavery and censoring Native American history at National parks.

Why is he bent on whitewashing our past?

So he can whitewash the future of America using the platform of this historic anniversary to justify taking away hard-won civil rights and freedoms, denying birthright citizenship to Black and brown Americans, and terrorizing our communities with modern-day slave patrols. 

That's why we are calling on people of conscience to refuse to participate in Trump's anti-American, whitewashed 250th and instead, embrace our whole history and the whole of America. 

Let's make this the year that we correct the record, turn the tide, and make a better future. Together, we'll follow in the footsteps of the freedom fighters who paved the way, embrace and reckon with our whole history, and create a country that finally rights longstanding wrongs and lives up to its ideals of freedom and equality for all, no matter our races, backgrounds, or genders.
